Bodrum the ancient name of which was Halikarnassos, is the center of Blue Voyage. There are hundreds of yacht in Bodrum harbour. Some of these yachts provide daily tours in the area, and some of the sail and stay in the sea for many days. The yachts which leave Bodrum on Blue Voyage generally pass Gokova gulf and Marmaris and sail on to Fethiye and Antalya. some of the them sail to the Aegean.
Yachts approach Bodrum harbour directly at night and in the day time. The harbour and breakwater are just to the West of the castle. When approaching the harbour at night, you can use Kargi island, Karaada and Dikilitas lighthouse. Once closer in, you can see the lights of the Dikilitas reef. The entrance of the harbour is narrow, and the traffic is heavy. After entering the harbour head towards the marina where mooring is possible except for big yachts. Anchoring in the open is not suitable. However, gulets and other Turkish commercial ships can use the quay of the harbour.
The marina provides all-round shelter. During strong Southerlies, the Southern part may not be very comfortable. Yachts can winter in the marina. There are several craft production and maintenance sites available aroun Bodrum, mostly located in the Southeast, in Icmeler region 3 km away.
